Black River Watershed

The total estimated area in the Black River watershed is 1,317,138 acres.  This watershed is located in northeast South Carolina.  The watershed area is located in the Sand Hills Coastal Plain.

The land uses in this watershed consist of irrigated cropland, dry cropland and pastureland.  The topography ranges from gently sloping hills to flat river bottom.  The soils range from generally well drained to moderately well drained. 

There are 1,369 farms within this watershed, and the average farm size is 287 acres.  Cropland consists of 399,800 total acres and pastureland consists of 18,800 total acres.
