Cheraw Fish Hatchery Project

Completed project

View of a fish pond at Cheraw Fish Hatchery NRCS in South Carolina provided design and construction inspection to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources for nine new ponds at the Cheraw Fish Hatchery between 1996 and 1997. The new ponds were the first major additions to the fish hatchery since it was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC's) in the 1930's.

During Construction

Construction view of kettle Each pond includes a concrete "kettle" at the lower end to trap the young fish as the water level is slowly drawn down. A kettle is shown here still in the forms in a 1997 construction photograph.
